I made it back home this morning.
Some plants didn’t make it, others bolted or went to seed, but honestly, most of the garden survived. I’ll call that a win.
The weeds, however? Absolute chaos. Even where I had barrier and mulch down, they’ve taken over like it’s their land now. It’s overwhelming, but after the last few weeks, I’m trying to be kind to myself. Grace over guilt, right?
Today I focused on watering and tidying the plants I could. It took over an hour and used the last of the water in my 5th wheel tank. That should keep everything alive for the next few days, especially with rain in the forecast.
I did refill my tank from the big ground tank, and I still have a reserve in my truck tank. (Yes, I know, it’s a whole water ballet at this point.)
I also started bleaching out the fridge—if you remember, it ran out of propane and everything had to be tossed. It smells like bleach right now, but it’s finally cooling again. I even rescued my half-melted orange popsicles I had in the truck!
I dumped everything from my truck into the camper. It’s so hot. I’m drenched. I seriously need to find a way to stay cooler during the day—otherwise, between the sweat and lack of water to shower, this place is gonna smell like a brothel in July.
One step at a time. I’m home.
